The "Creative Ministry" competition has been defined to include ONLY these eight performance categories:
- Puppet plays; live or prerecorded
- Ventriloquism routines
- Clown skits
- Mime routines
- Stick ministry performances (dowel rod)
- Human videos
- Hand mime
- Gospel illusion
We have sponsored over 700 Regional Festivals, and by experience have learned of the challenges and limitations of personnel and equipment. Therefore we have carefully restricted the categories so that we could be as fair and as consistent as possible. We have purposely not included categories of performance ministry such as drama, dance, and sign language.
"Creative Ministry" competition, as we have defined it, includes only the eight categories. We'll allow minor elements of drama, dance, and signing in an entry, but your performance piece needs to be primarily one of the eight listed categories.
Judging forms and guidelines have been created for each category. You can download the forms and guidelines to help you improve your performance skills and prepare for the competition:
If our festival schedule allows, we will allow your group to perform a piece that doesn't fit the categories as a "demonstration." Your presentation will not be judged and you will not be eligible for the "People's Choice" award. This will be at the discretion of Creative Ministry Solutions staff and is not guaranteed.
We encourage you to bring puppet skits, ventriloquism skits, stick ministry song routines, clown/mime skits, human videos, gospel illusions or hand mime performances. Variety in ministry is important, and we do want to see your creativity. We just want to be able to judge you fairly and competently, and to give you helpful feedback that will make your ministry more effective.
