Fundraising Ideas: Sell RPM CDs
How Does it Work? The program is simple. You purchase a minimum of 50 CDs (from the Righteous Pop Music and Happenin' Hymns series) for a special discounted price of $12.00 each, paying a 50% deposit on the total due. You sell the CDs for whatever price you choose: $15.00, $17.00, $20.00, accepted donations - it's up to you. After 45 days, you return whatever is unsold and keep the profit. If you sold more than 50% of the CDs, you'll need to send payment for the additional CDs. If you sold less than 50%, you'll get a refund from your deposit. For example: Your program features songs from RPM Christmas and Happenin' Christmas Carols, so you purchase twenty-five of each of these CDs. At $12.00 each, this totals $600. Therefore, your 50% deposit due at the time of purchase is $300. You decide to sell the CDs for $18 each as a fundraiser for your puppet team. After forty-five days, you have sold 43 CDs for $774. You return the seven remaining CDs along with $216 (the remainder due minus the amount returned). You keep $258.00 in profit. Of course, you can choose how many CDs to purchase, what price to charge, and how often to repeat the fundraiser throughout the year. Suggestions to Boost Sales Of course you can sell the CDs to church and family members, but to clear a larger profit, you'll want to get creative. Sell the CDs after performances. Performing outside your church this Christmas? Be sure some of the songs from your performance are available on the CDs you are selling. Play other songs from the CDs before the show begins to generate interest. Be sure to announce that they are available for purchase, and mention that they also make great gifts. Try to get local radio play. Donate a few of the CDs to a local radio station to use as a prize giveaway, in exchange for their playing some songs from the CDs on air. Have a website or phone number for listeners to contact you to arrange their purchase. Although you have to give away a few of your CDs for free, you will make up the difference by selling a greater volume. Play them as often as possible. Play the CDs during church potlucks, youth group activities, ladies luncheons... whenever possible, to promote the fundraiser. People are much more likely to buy after they have heard and enjoyed the music. Offer quantity incentives. Create a special price for two CDs, or a pack of four titles. Auction off a set of all 12 RPMs to the highest bidder, encouraging a sizeable donation to your ministry. Think of ways to generate interest. Think seasonal. Use Christmas CDs during the holiday season, and fun songs from the other albums during the rest of the year. Please call us at 1-800-469-4537 to discuss CD fundraiser opportunities. Terms of this offer are subject to change. Adopt a Puppet Another puppet team fundraising idea is the Adopt a Puppet Program. This congregational fundraiser invites church members to "adopt" new puppet characters for your ministry, by donating the purchase price for the puppet. You post pictures of the desired puppets who are awaiting sponsors, and the individuals or groups who choose to sponsor them are given "adoption certificates," photos, etc. You can find out more about this program and also get money-saving coupons with our Adopt a Puppet book. Sell Simple Puppets Kids love puppets. Puppet team members can create simple, safe puppets for the kids and families in your church to purchase. You could also hold a special kids' workshop where they would learn to make their own puppets and perform a brief program. A nominal entry fee for each child can raise funds for your ministry. You could even repeat this workshop at other churches, libraries, or community centers. Go Out to Eat... Or Eat In Many restaurants offer special fundraising opportunities to non-profit organizations. People who want to support your organization go to the restaurant on a certain day, or use a certain code, and a percentage of those sales are donated to your organization. Check with local restaurants to see what opportunities are available in your area. Another option is to challenge church members to "eat in" for the puppet team, and donate to the team the money they would have spent on dinner out. Groups can do this together and gather at one house for a home-cooked meal or potluck, while donating money to your team. Suggested Resources:
