The International Festival of Christian Puppetry and Ventriloquism is held on the beautiful park-like campus of Olivet Nazarene University. With 30 major buildings on 225 acres, ONU provides an ideal setting for our conference. The University, in the historic village of Bourbonnais, Illinois is conveniently located 50 minutes south of Chicago's Loop, just north of Kankakee, Illinois.
ONU is on Highway 45/52 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Due to severe road construction in the cities of Kankakee and Bourbonnais, we recommend that those who are traveling to Olivet Nazarene University by interstate avoid using exit 315 from Interstate 57. Instead, follow these directions:
- From Chicago, take I-57 to exit 322 (the
- Turn right to head west on E County Highway 9.
- After about a mile, turn left at the stop sign to head south on US Route 45/52. This is the intersection with a Gas City.
- After almost seven miles, Olivet Nazarene University will be located on your left. You can enter through the main entrance, which has many flags displayed on flagpoles.
- Proceed to the Ludwig Center to locate the registration desk.
Airport Shuttle Information
The following companies offer shuttle services from Chicago O'Hare and Midway airports to the O.N.U. campus. Some of these companies offer rates per vehicle, so they are more cost-effective for larger groups. Lincoln Land Express offers slightly cheaper rates, since it is designed as a shuttle service. Please note that Lincoln Land Express does not list O.N.U. as a destination; you will need to specifically request it when making your reservation.

Alternative Transportation
If you will need transportation from the airport to a hotel, we suggest renting a vehicle. We have found that it is cheaper to rent a vehicle for the week than renting a vehicle for two one-way trips (to and from the airport).
If you are connected with a church, consider contacting people within your church to find friends in the Chicago area that might be able to provide a ride to and from the airport. You might also check with churches in the area that share the same denomination as your church.

We have discovered there is a slightly complicated way to use the public transportation system utilizing the Chicago Metra Rail and the River Valley Metro bus system. Make sure to plan your route ahead of time to ensure that you do not get stranded!
Of course, the simplest solution for some of our attendees is to drive to the conference. We get many teams who drive across country. This allows them to bring more puppets and props to use in competitions. Depending on the price of flights in your area, this may be more cost-effective choice.
