Click to Enlarge Introduction to Biblical Interpretation

by William W. Klein, Craig L. Blomberg, & Robert L. Hubbard, Jr.

The Bible includes a mixture of literary genres, penned by dozens of people widely separated by distance and time. For centuries the Christian and Judaic Scriptures have taxed the skills of even the most capable readers.  Now Drs. William W. Klein, Craig L. Blomberg, & Robert L. Hubbard, Jr. have combined their years of expertise and devotion to Scripture to create the most comprehensive textbook on hermeneutics, reflecting the very latest scholarship. This truly unique volume sets forth concise, logical, and practical guidelines for discovering the truth of God's Word to help you grasp the message God intended for you to receive.

"As its core we believe the Bible to be God's written revelation to His people," the authors affirms.  "It records in human words what God desires." Having committed their lives to studying and teaching the Bible, they offer this substantially revised and updated volume as a valuable tool for those who desire to understand and apply the Bible to their lives.

In this volume the authors:

  • Define and describe hermeneutics, the science of biblical interpretation
  • Suggest effective methods to understand the meaning of any biblical text
  • Survey the literary, cultural, social, and historical issues that impact any text
  • Evaluate both traditional and modern approaches to Bible interpretation
  • Examine our role as interpreters of the text and help us identify what we bring to the text that could distort its message
  • Tackle the problems of how to apply the Bible in valid and significant ways today
  • Provide an extensive, revised annotated list of books that readers will find extremely helpful in the practice of biblical interpretation.

All of this will help you become the best Bible Expositor you can be!

Dr. William W. Klein both edited and contributed to this volume.  He is Professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary.  He previously wrote The New Chosen People: A Corporate View of Election and a commentary and annotated bibliography of Ephesians.

Dr. Craig L. Blomberg is Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary. His previous books include The Historical Reliability of the Gospels and Interpreting the Parables and commentaries on Matthew and 1 Corinthians.

Dr. Robert L. Hubbard, Jr. is Professor of Old Testament at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago.  He authored the volume on Ruth in the New International Commentary on the Old Testament, and served as editor for Studies in Old Testament Theology.
